Texas has recently been fortifying their border with much more protection, as the border crisis has spiraled out of hand. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has expressed concerns about a potential standoff between the State National Guard and Federal Border Patrol in Eagle Pass, TX. Texas has gone against the wishes of the federal government by placing razor wire and other forms of protection along the border to keep out illegal immigrants. With this border crisis, cartel members are attempting to control the passing and preventing of immigrants into the state. The Biden Administration supports making the citizenship process easier for illegal immigrants. Texas is very against this stance and wants to prevent the illegal immigrants from entering the country.
As the situation escalates, Texas has been proving to be more and more against federal ideals. There has been talk of a standoff between the state of Texas and the United States federal government through the Biden Administration. Many states support Texas in this dispute. At the moment, 25 other states are in support of Texas’ ideals. Even though many states are in favor of tighter border security, the federal government and the Supreme Court are against it.
In a recent case, the Supreme Court ruled 5-4 in favor of the Biden Administration to resume the federal agents cutting down the razor wire that Texas has been putting up along the Rio Grande River. This razor wire has proven effective in slowing down the border entry, and as of 2023, 1.4 million immigrants entered the country illegally. According to Newsweek, Texas claims they have the right to self defense against invasion under the United States Constitution. This allows Texas to take drastic measures to counter the invasion of illegal immigrants into the country. Texas is also accusing the Biden Administration of failing to execute immigration laws.
